Chris has been cultivating world-class vineyards since 2013, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to the industry. His journey into the world of wine began as a sommelier and beverage consultant in the Baltimore restaurant scene, where he developed a deep appreciation for wine. Eager to expand his knowledge, he transitioned into production, gaining invaluable international experience as a cellar worker in the Western Cape of South Africa and Waipara, New Zealand.
These experiences exposed him to both winemaking and viticulture, sparking a lifelong commitment to vineyard farming.
Farming was not a new endeavor for Chris; he grew up working alongside his stepfather on a 200-acre family farm in Maryland, where they cultivated produce and raised cattle. This early exposure to agriculture laid the foundation for his career in viticulture.
After returning to the United States, Chris moved to Napa Valley, where he refined his viticulture expertise working at Joseph Phelps Vineyards. His skill set quickly earned him a promotion to Viticulturist at Opus One, where he also became an integral part of the winemaking team. Driven by ambition and a desire for new challenges, Chris moved to Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the summer of 2018, where he joined Atlas Vineyard Management as Vineyard Manager. Here, he continues to apply his extensive knowledge of vineyard management to produce exceptional wines.
