Garrett graduated from UCSB with a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology. He worked for several Santa Barbara County wineries while in school. Garrett began farming wine grapes in 2009 for Ryan Carr, a local Vineyard Manager and Wine Maker. After graduating from UCSB, he pursued a PhD in Hydrogeology at Texas A&M University, while returning to Santa Barbara to continue summer winery internships. After graduating from Texas A&M, he pursued one last winery internship at Crown Point Winery in Santa Ynez, before he had to seek out a “real job”. Garrett ended up working for a Santa Barbara-based ground water consulting firm as a hydrogeologist for a short six months, at which time he decided that his heart was truly in farming and winemaking. He quickly returned to a farming role with one of Santa Barbara County’s prominent farming companies, Coastal Vineyard Care, as an Assistant Vineyard Manager. After three years with CVCA, Garrett made the move Atlas in November of 2016, where he is currently a Vineyard Manager for the Central Coast region.
